You figure out why the state health insurance didn't pay it. You'll have to call them, and you might have to call the hospital, and ask them to rebill it. |

You had coverage that appears to have lapsed, and you were aware of this, and then have medical bills after the termination date, then you are responsible for the bill. I would try to negotiate a settlement of the bill with the hospital, and tell them you don't have that kind of money.Ask for a letter releasing you of the debt, and ask for a a bill of half and then find the money, and pay it off |

Don't pay it. It will certainly hurt your credit but think about the grand scheme. If everyone in the country refused to pay their medical bills then maybe the government would be forced to socialize health care. Think about the future generations not yourself. I know it is a difficult thing to do but I think it would be pretty awesome if we could pull it off. |

so do you have health insurance? if so, call the health insurance company and see if they are paying that bill. once you know whether or not they are paying it, call the hospital and let them know. if it is up to you to pay some or all of the bill talk to the hospital about it. let them know your situation. most hospitals will work with you to reduce your bill or put you on monthly payments. they know you don't have a lot of money and most of the time are glad to at least get part of the bill. the worst thing you can do is just not pay it because then they will credit report you and then it's hard to get credit cards, loans, cars, etc. |
