$4200 Hospital Bill for going to the Emergency Room in June?
Hospital said they can work out a payment plan of $350 a month. I can't afford that; I have a wife & 7 month old baby. I have to work a year before I can get insurance and it have not been a year yet. You know Any insurance or anything that can help??

There is no insurance for past medical.

Just tell the hospital what you can pay each month.
Be "certain" that you can pay the amount you specify. You can also inform them that if you can afford additional in the future, you will do so.

The worst thing you can do is set a figure and not pay it.

Every hospital offers charity care. Go to the business office at the hospital and ask to apply.

about all you can do is negotiate a lower payment, offer them 100 dollars a month. As long as you keep making payments of some sort, they cannot send your account to collections.

There are a couple of alternatives:
1)Go back to the hospital and negotiate a better payment plan that fits your budget. What is more, show them your pay stub and your monthly expenses, and prove to them that you are unable to make a $350 monthly payment. Propose to them you will pay $150 to $200 a month, should your situation change you will increase the amount.
2)There is no reasonable way to obtain insurance for a medical expense incurred in the past. One obtains medical insurance to protect against a possible future medical need that could cost thousands of dollars. While insured, should you incur medical expenses, the Insurance Company pays. If you don't incur medical expenses, you still pay your monthly cost of insurance in either case, and the insurance company keeps your money. Because insurance works by pooling payments from many potential users, some who use the insurance and some who don't have a need, the cost of medical services is spread among the many insurance paying customers, and should you need to use insurance, it costs you pennies on the dollar for the privilege of owning an insurance policy. That being said, you could consider a second mortgage against your home, and the medical payments and interest should be tax deductible, consult a tax accountant for more details. Otherwise, you may go to a bank for a personal loan, or a credit card with a low interest payment based on your credit worthiness. In the short run these are viable solutions, in the long run, you should consider the dangers of acquiring debt and the interest cost of repayment. Best wishes.

Only donations. Why don't you go back to them, and offer them $100 a month. It might mean a part time second job. But even if you deliver pizzas on football day, that should get you an extra $200 a month.
