ALL insurance life, property or other ONLY PAYS on the basis of the language in the specific policy. If execution is not addressed as an exclusion then the policy will in all likelihood pay. |

I can tell you that most companies suicide clause is only good for the first 2 years of the policy. I would believe that the death claim would be paid. Now here is the question - Can the victim's family sue for proceeds? |

Actually, I am guessing no. Insurance policies will list exemptions to the contract such as death while a combatant in a war. One of these exemptions is always "death occuring during or as a result of committing a crime." It would be an easy argument for the insurance comapny to say the execution is a result of the commission of a crime. |

Certainly, unless the sentencing occured within two years of issue, and then only if the insurer revokes the contract. Insurers can dispute a contract in the first two after issue on anything that can alter the calculation of the estimated date of death. A fixed date of death would certainly constitute the removal of uncertainty. Life insurance contracts are largely standard in the United States. Pick up your own contract and read it. Even suicide is covered after the first two years. |

No obviously. The insurance companies have lawyers that write up all sorts of technicalities that disqualify the payouts. Suicide is one technicality, I'm sure governmental executions are included! |
