AIG spends $350,000 on a SECOND spa junket after 2 bailouts. Who is doing who here?

I agree with Virtue, I live about 30 minutes from the hotel where AIG held the meeting. I do think AIG should have made this public, explained the reason behind the meeting and that they were not spending a great deal of money on the conference. Instead they were very secretive about the conference, making them look very suspicious even tho I really don't think they were.

Actually the media is really blowing things out of proportion.
This was not a junket, it was a convention to sell their products to financial planners. They said that 93% of the cost was paid by those who attended, and AIG only actually spent 23K
So people need to get their fact straight here. And yes, AIG should know better than doing this kind of thing... they should just meet in less luxurious conditions. I know exactly where they held the meetings, it's 10 minutes from my house.
Oh and the whole thing was probably scheduled way ahead of time and they would have lost a huge chunk of money if they canceled.
I'm not saying that AIG is innocent, but what the media is doing is not exactly "fair and balanced" reporting.
BEFORE YOU BECOME "ENRAGED", PLEASE CHECK THE FACTS.

BLAME IT ON THE DEMOCRATS WHO TO LOOK GOOD AND THE PARTY OF " CHANGE " RUSHED TO WRITE A BLANK BAIL OUT CHECK -------INSTEAD OF A BILL THAT REQUIRED 100% ACCOUNTABILITY.YOU CAN EXPECT A LOT OF THIS IN THE NEXT 4 YEARS AS DEMOCRATS ARE NEVER ANY GOOD WITH MONEY .-------AND ALL THE FOOL DEMOCRATS VOTED THEM IN THINKING THEY WOULD GET A " CHANGE " FOR THE BETTER --------SURPRISE SURPRISE ------THE " CHANGE " WILL BE DEVASTATING FOR AMERICA .

I'm with Insurancepickle and Vitue on this one...

Insurance Geek-ette, you need to check your facts.

First off, the money that AIG got was a one year loan at 11% interest. No one is throwing money at anyone, no one is getting free money and pissing it away. It's a loan, plain and simple. What they choose to do with the money is their concern. As long as it gets paid back that's all they need.

Second thing, AIG's North American Insurance Operations are not the parts that are causing problems. Their insurance divisions are still very profitable and they have recognition for their advisors and the good work they are doing. They have a liquidity problem, which means they don't have the cashflow to operate. There is a HUGE difference! And part of operating a successful business is recognizing the hard and good work that thier employees do and creating an environment where people want to come to work.

Third, as mentioned, media reports contraversy. COntravery sells becuase people love to get pissed off at other people so they don't have to face the reality of the fact that they don't really give a **** about what is going on and aren't prepared to do anything about it. IT gets you into an unmotivated, negative attitude that holds you back. Wanna know why the Rich get richer? Becuase the poor dwell on all the negative crap and the rich focus on the good things that will help them get ahead.

Turn off your TV and quit listening to the BS that the media is peddling for truth and news. Ask Howard Beale! It's been the same for decades!

Yes, you need to ignore the media. These are sales meetings. You can't expect a company to stop doing business because not marketing doesn't make any sense, otherwise how are they going to pay back the loan.

They borrowed some money and they're dealing with the issue. $350,000 after borrowing $100 Billion is like if I lent you $100,000 and you bought a 35 cent piece of candy. It's nothing.

Turn off the tv and go shopping...that's how you can help the economy.

Congress is throwing money, with no strings attached, at some companies, who can then do whatever they want with it.

Like hire more lobbyists, to ask for MORE money.
