Congrats on buying Life. Many people skip this. Cancer might be a concern for a smoker, so OK.
Accident is generally a decent deal for those who are at risk. Average payout for a broken leg is about $3500.
However, Income protection (disability) is probably the most important coverage that most people don't have. It is a major reason people default on their homes and go into bankrupcy. |

I think it's a waste of money, to only insure against one thing. Say instead of getting lung cancer, you get emphesyma. Well, that's not covered, is it.
If you want payment for medical costs, get HEALTH INSURANCE. If you want payment for lost wages, get DISABILITY INSURANCE.
Insuring against just dying by accident, or just dying by cancer, is like insuring your car against accidents with BLUE CARS. Kinda silly, as odds are, the car that hits you won't be blue. And if you have a heart attack, well, you won't collect. |
