Am I able to take my Series 6 and 63 exams on my own and are the tests the same in various states?
I want to become an insurance agent. I know i need the 6 and 63 licensing and I want to go ahead and take the test now. However, I am not sure if the licenses are accepted in every state. I guess I am trying to get ahead and get licensed while I get my finances in order.
The tests are different in each state, and you need a sponsoring company to even take the test.

You need a sponsor for the series 6 and 63. These are FINRA exams. The states regulate insurance and exams vary state to state. The federal exams allow you to sell mutual funds and DPPs in any state.

I don't have my series 6 license, but I am pretty sure you need a sponsoring company, the same as when you get P&C, L&H etc. Call your state department of insurance to find out.
