watershed_22 | Am I covered for time lost due to an injury/accident on the job? |
Today at work I fell off of a ladder and was taken to the ER. My employer is responsible for the hospital and prescriptions, etc. This has all been taken car of for me. Now I am wondering if I will be compensated for the 2-3 I will miss work due to the injury.
I live in the state of GA if that helps anyone. |

Not exactly.
Each state is a little different. In Georgia, you have to miss more than seven days work in a row, in order to be eligible for lost wages coverage. So, a doctor has to say, ok, Joe, you can't work for three weeks until those three casts come off!, and THEN you get lost wages.
The 2-3 hours here or there, for doctor appointments or the initial visit, are NOT covered under workers comp. Your employer has to allow you the time off to go to them, but does NOT have to pay you for that time. |

This is covered under worker's compensation laws. You have to file a WC claim with your employer. |

I think you are covered, the best thing to do is to talk to the HR of your company. |

It wouldn't cover this incident, but I'd recommend getting a short-term disability policy. |

Put in a workers compensation claim with your employer. |

It has to be borne by your company. If they don't then keep the expenditures incurred you by you and claim the same from the insurance company and they might take it up with the management of the company to find a solution |
