Naw you should be fine. Did you do anything wrong before he asked you that question? If you did... I don't think you have anything to worry about. He might have been questioning your skills. If you did nothing wrong he was might be checking for his records. You should be fine!

You have no idea what he needs the information for. If he was going to fire you, he would not care what your background was before your current job.

More likely, he is putting together some sort of summary of his staff to show the experience that his team has.
