jerry22 | Anyone know how to get free legal advise? |
advice such as employers benifits on short term disability overed by my employer. they denied claim even with Dr's note not to work |

The contract covering your short term disability insurance is between YOU and the INSURER, not your employer (unless it is a self insured plan). Even if the coverage is offered to you through your employer, they are not a party to the insurance agreement.
If you were injured on the job, your short term disability policy shouldn't even be in play because it should be covered by workers' compensation insurance.
If you had another reason for the disability, you need to appeal the denial back to the insurer, not your employer.
You have another problem though. If you miss work because of a disability, depening on your state's work rules, your employer may be able to bring a job action against you.....like firing you for not showing up to work.
Either way....none of this needs to go to a lawyer.
You can easily find out your rights by contacting the state agency that is responsible for enforcing workplace rules in your state (usually a State Department of Labor).
And remember that free legal advice is not worth anything. You should NEVER depend on free legal advice since there are no repercussions against the advice giver if the advice taker is harmed because of reliance on the advice. |

Go to your local Bar Association--many have lawyers who will give pro bono (free) advice. |

Marry a lawyer.
Seriously, any lawyer in the phone book should give you a free consultation. If you have a case, they'll offer to take it on a contingency basis - they only get paid if you win your case. If they won't take it on a contingency basis, either you don't have a solid case, or it's not worth much money. |
