No.
But if you want to sell your stuff to another company - aka customer - they are going to require that you have product liability, and provide them with a certificate of insurance. It's a voluntary agreement, between you and them, as part of the sales deal.
If you're a walk in customer, an individual not a business, and you want to see who their GL carrier is . . .it's none of your business! You can't do anything with that information, anyway. IF you want to sue them, sue them. The GL carrier isn't going to talk to you, so you can't file a complaint. And they aren't going to take a claim from you, either. |

It is not a legal requirement but if a company that you are doing business with refuses to provide proof of insurance you probably should look to do business with one ot their competitors who is willing to provide proof of insurance. |

Very vague question. Depends on the context and the reasons why a customer would need to know this information. Not all business are 'required' to carry certain insurance coverages. However, a company like a contractor must provide proof of insurance to the people they are working for; for licensing and permits; but not necessarily the customer. |

At times, a consumer will want proof of insurance from a contractor before they let the contractor work on their house. Just call your agent and they will send one to them.
At times a general contractor might want to see proof of insurance from a sub-contractor.
Other than that, I wouldn't think that Sears would need to show an appliance buyer a certificate of insurance....
