Nope. Real insurance companies will underwrite you BEFORE they ask for the money.
with healht insurance, if it sounds way better than everyone else is telling you (likely, no one wants to cover the diabetes) it's not what you think it is.
Likely this is a DISCOUNT plan, not INSURANCE. You can check with your state insurance department website, to see if the company is legit. |

I am a licensed insurance agent for Life/Health in IN, and I would suggest if you do not know this company you talked to, go to AM Best or other insurance rating agencies to get their rating. High risk insurance for diabetes is sold as a stand alone policy in most companies and is very expensive if you can get it. Keep in mind that your information will go to an underwriter and based on your doctors report, they will decide on whether or not they will cover you. If they will not, they should refund your money.
The answer to your question is: ALL insurance companies require that you make the payment before the coverage begins. Insurance companies will only consider you as a client if they have money in hand, but I would strongly suggest you check out the company first to make sure they are rated well for paying claims. |

Sounds fishy. If you're looking for individual health insurance and are worried about coverage for pre-existing conditions, find an independent insurance broker and see whats available. There shouldn't be any fees just to find out. |

Wouldn't send a penny to anyone who asks for money upfront like that. Sounds like a scam that'll be gone in thirty days. Health Savings Accounts sound like your best bet. |
