I like State Farm. They gave me a good discount for having both policies with them. They act quickly too when I need something. |

JR, I'll be honest with you. It doesn't really matter who your insurance company is because they all provide a service for a cost. The thing that's going to matter is, who your public adjuster is should ever have a loss. One of the best in the nation is Charles R. Tutwiler and Associates.
I have heard hundreds of horror stories from victims of Katrina whose insurance companies -- all of them -- offered them only a small percentage for their losses, and the insureds felt like they had no choice because they needed to settle just in order to live.
The insurance companies' first option in maintaining a plus in their books is to NOT have to pay out what the policy says they need to pay out, and so they low ball you and hold your payment for as long as possible in order to make you settle for less.
I don't say this to scare you, or anybody else, but to educate you -- all of you -- as to the need for a public adjuster.
I live in Florida, and I survived through Charley, Francis, Ivan and Jeanne, amazingly without suffering any losses. My friends, however, lost much. One friend had significant damage to her home and had lost electricity for two weeks. She had to live in a hotel. All of the food in her freezer, fridge, cabinets, etc., were lost -- including about $500 of meat in the deep freeze. Her insurance company told her her damages were $2900 -- and her deductible was $3000. . . so sorry; have a nice day.
She called Charles R. Tutwiler and Associates, and not only did they inspect her damages with an unbiased eye, they dragged the insurance company to the bank and made them cut a check for her total losses, including reimbursement for her hotel fees, eating out fees, and for all the food she lost when the power went out. Needless to say, she is very, VERY happy with Charles R. Tutwiler and Associates.
At her behest, I called Tutwiler after an auto accident and they gave me invaluable advice that put more than $1600 in my pocket. That was a good day.

I am actually an insurance agent and the company that I sell the most is St. Paul Travelers. I actually have them too. They are really reasonable. Make sure you get an Umbrella too. You will get a credit when you put your home and auto together. |
