Since you're self employed...do you have employees that want to participate in a group health plan. The catch is 50% of them would have to enroll on the plan and you have to pay 50% of the premium...but it is tax deductible. Some states allow you to purchase one-man group insurance and as your business grows, you can add employees. The individual market is a little more expensive per person and since you are in good health, underwriting for your age/gender would be a driving cost factor. Premium is usually the same if you use a broker or purchase direct from the carrier...if you ever need an advocate...your broker should be happy to help you. There are several types of plans. High Deductible plans allow you to save money on premiums but you have to pay a deductible for most services, before your insurance pays a portion...Then you have to meet a higher out-of -pocket before the insurance pays the rest of the bill. These amounts are calendar year limits...meaning you start paying for your healthcare again next Jan. 1. Plans with co-pay options allow you to go to doctors for simple things like colds and small injuries and you can select different deductibles for things like surgery. You can even control costs by shoosing low co-insurance limits like paying 20% co insurance instead of paying less like 10%. Always select a carrier with a broad network. All carriers have contracts with providers and you want to have flexibility when you need healthcare. If you have prescriptions, ask about pre-existing condition exclusions...they are usually 12-months long, sometimes longer. Meaning if you went to seek treatment for headaches last week. Headache treatment won't be covered until next year. Some pre-ex conditions are permanently excluded...some carriers will just decide not to go through the hassle of selling you a policy at all. Hope this helps. |

Everything depends on your situation- income, do you smoke, are you healthy, were your parents healthy, etc?
The best bet is probably to get an insurance quote from a qualified broker and work from there.
Good Luck! |

Depends on where you are and what your needs are! Are you more comfortable with an HMO or PPO, what's your budget, your income, and do you have dependents? Get a qualified broker to work with you... |

Hi, just thought I’d share there’s a company out there who’s helped a lot of people who do not have and need affordable health benefits. They cover regular office visits, specialists like orthodontists, any pre-existing conditions like diabetes and pregnancy and even ancillary care and hospital advocacy. It basically includes everything you need help paying for. There's no high premiums, deductibles, co-pays, waiting periods, claims forms or anything like that at all. They can save you up to 80% on your out of pocket expenses for so much less than all the other companies. It could end up saving you a lot of $$ over traditional insurance. They have a medical plan as well as a dental plan that both include vision, prescription and chiropractic benefits as well. They have over 400,000 providers nationwide as well, so it is available almost everywhere. They are a wonderful company and are members of the Better Business Bureau. They were even featured on FOX News just a couple weeks ago. I know several people who have benefits through them, and everything they say about them is nothing but positive. It’s just crazy how much people are shelling out for their healthcare. I then also got benefits through them and love to be able to tell other people about how much money they can save. Try this website and you can check out the specifics and providers in your area. http://www.everyonebenefits.com/40424269/. If your preferred provider isn't on there, he can be added. I hope this helps you and you find what you need. You can email me personally at airforcecontractnegotiator@ yahoo .com (we're military) if you have any questions. Best of luck and happy new year!! |
