I know I am but what are YOU? | Best homeowners insurance out there? |
I'm doing my own research right now, but I would still like to hear other people's opinions. I would like to stay away from statefarm and allstate. Any and all advice/websites would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. |

As an insurance professional myself, i recommend contacting an agency, not a captive broker like an Allstate or a statefarm. The agency will have contracts with multiple carriers and will shop you out to the different carriers, i.e. chubb, Hartford, travelers, Cincinnati, etc. and will find the right coverages and the right price for you.
Just remember...not all homeowner policies are the same, make sure you find out the differences. |

There are many out there, some even better than Chubb. Contact a couple of independent agents in your area and get some advice from them. Each company's plans differ from state to state depending on how they file with that particular state. |

The most important thing you can do when it comes to homeowners insurance is make sure you are getting replacement value on the dwelling and contents. |

First of all, in which state do you live? |

Well, the BEST policy out there is the Chubb homeowners form - it's the most broad, and even includes mine subsidence in the policy form - which NO ONE else does. They come out and do a detailed appraisal for you (replacement cost, of course) with color photos. They offer "all risk" (I hate that term, it's actually "risk of direct physical loss") for both the building, AND your contents - which very few other carriers offer.
Your house has to be built within the past 20 years, you have to have spectacular credit and claims history, and the replacement value of your house needs to be at least $500,000 to qualify. Their lowest deductible is $1,000.
It is NOT the cheapest policy out there - but it IS the best.
Now, is it the BEST FOR YOU? No idea. You should contact a local, independent agent who represents multiple carriers, and get several quotes, matching coverages to your specific situation and needs. |
