No, and it's highly unlikely that your policy includes any language to the contrary. Think about why an insurance company would automatically cover you without additional premium? Now, depending on how nice they are, they MAY backdate a policy, then pay for your damages, less your deductible and any premium you would have owed, but this is a long shot, and it would take quite a bit of negotiating on your part. You must not live in a state that requires insurance, because in the states that do, they aren't allowed to let you leave the car lot without proof of insurance on that vehicle you just purchased. Good luck.

Reard your policy.

If it's a REPLACEMENT vehicle, like you traded in the old vehicle, it's quite likely covered for whatever coverage you had on the old car, the one it's replacing (but not absolute). If it's an ADDITIONAL vehicle, then no.

It varies by company. My company allows 30 days to add an additional vehicle to your policy. As long as you notify your agent within 30 days of the purchase date, it is covered (but you will have to pay the premium for coverage from the purchase date).

In more recent years, some companies have become tighter with this rule. Some companies allow 14 days, some allow 4 days, and some don't allow any time at all for an additional vehicle.

Call your agent to find out. You need to do it quickly, because your clock is running. If your company allows 14 days, you don't want to wait around while you ask other people for their opinions--you need to report it IMMEDIATELY.

Best of luck with your claim!

Many policy allow you to report up to 30 days later but they are entitled to the money from the day you purchased to vehicle. I would call and report it and let you insurance company know immediately the everything. This is the only way that you will have any chance at coverage. The company will most likely do a reconstruct with you info to determine if they will allow the claim to proceed. Good Luck.
