Wherever you were born, you go to the County Clerk's office, and ask for a copy. A certified copy will have a fee around $10, and a photocopy $2.
There's no wait, if you can walk into the office (ie, if you live near where you were born). Otherwise, you have to do it by mail, and it usually takes 2-4 weeks. |

You can order one here:-
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Diol1/DoItOnline/DG_4017640
and yes they charge but I think it's only a few pounds. Whether you can go to the registry office and obtain a copy in person depends on where you live.
Try the website first.

All you have to do is go to your local courthouse and you can get another copy within minutes. Cost vary depending on the sate you live in. I know in NC it's only $10. |

In US you need to contact the department of vital statistics of the state you were born in. You can walk in if at most places but it may be a case that the department is in another county (usually the state capital) and that may not be feasible. There is a small fee associated with the copy. |

If you are british, you go to the Registrars Office with all the information, date and place of birth and parents info, and they will issue a replacement copy, I also believe it can be done online as well, just google replacement birth certificates and there's a stacks of websites coming up, I can't say if they are as official as they say they are...
There is a charge for these, but I can;t recall how much it is and probably gone up since I had to track down marriage certificates etc |

Go to the Registrar of Births Deaths and Marriages.
They will make a copy of your original entry - not a photocopy, a certified replacement.
It will cost a small amount of money (can't remember exactly), and you will have to wait a few days before it is ready! |

if you know where and when you were born its easy to sort out, although knowing when you were registered is even better. ring the registry office and talk to them, most need 5 days notice for a copy of your entry (thats the thing most people call a birth certificate) although i thnik there is an express (but it costs more) option |

Birth cert usually cost up to twenty dollars. You can contact vital records and they should be able to get one for you. It takes usually 4-6 weeks to receive it. In my state the local health department can issue one on the spot for a fee you might check to see if yours offer that service. |

Good luck getting it fast. It depends on the state you live in. We had to contact the state and send $15 per copy. We waited about 3 weeks. |

Go to your local council office (at your place of birth) and you can order a new one. It costs about 7 pounds to do and doesn't take too long. Give them a call first to find out what info you need to supply, you need the Births, Deaths and Marriages section. |

Depends on where you are at now in relationship to where you were born.
IF you are still lucky enough to live in the county you were born in, you would go to the department of public health records and get it in about a half hour.
If not, you can contact a company called vitalchek, who could do this for you |

Whatever town you were born in will have a Town Hall, that is where you need to go for them to reprint you one out. It costs about £10. for a large one and £8 for a small one. It takes a day i think, i went to my Town Hall and they told me to come back the next day and collect it OR they send it to you in the post. But you have to go there to order it. Dont bother getting the small one if you need it for id applications.
