Yes, a cancer patient can purchase life insurance, however, it would be very expensive, and may require a single payment. Don't let the cost be of great concern. Purchasing life insurance isn't always about getting a greater benefit than the premium paid. sometimes it is about tax treatment of death benefit. If a person with cancer was looking to leave money to their heirs without inheritance taxes, a life insurance policy is the way to go.

Yes, cancer patients may have life insurance.

I believe there are some insurance companies that may offer life insurance to cancer survivors, including breast cancer, and prostate cancer.

Among the insurance companies I have heard that may offer life insurance to cancer survivors are The Hartford and AIG American General.

Make sure you review all policy limitations and exclusions before purchasing a plan. Review all pre-existing condition exclusions on your policy.

Inquire as to whether the coverage is graded, or limited, for the first 1-2 years, or if you receive full coverage from day one.

It would probly depend on the condition of the patient.

You can apply with any company "non bind". That means you just put in an application and see what they say. They take no money and do not cover you until you see what they say first.

Good Luck.

Yes, however most policies will put a "rider" on your life insurance. This means the policy will not pay in the event you should die of cancer. And if you find a company that will insure you--you'll likely have to be 7-10 years cancer free in order to qualify. You may want to look at your works group coverage and see if they have any options for you.

Yes but it depends on the type of cancer. If it is a cancer that will lead to death, he/she must survive as long as the term must be active. This term could be from 1 year to 10 years depending on the insurance program you choose. You could get them life insurance, but they would have to live for 5 years for example. If anything happened before the 5 years minimum life expectancy, then you would not receive your claim. Some life insurance companies will reject cancer patients if they are guaranteed to die and they find out they will definitely have to pay out big within a short time. You will have a hard time finding a life insurance company that will insure the cancer patient for a few months and be able to receive the life insurance claim. Either that, or you will pay out huge amounts of money which could go up even. It may not be worth it and even if you find a policy, you will be fighting to get your money out of the company in court.

Yes, you can.

This is known as "gauranteed issue" insurance. There is no medical underwritting involved at all, so it's automatically approved when you pay the first premium.

Generally there is an exclusion or contestibility period with these policies though where is the patient dies within a specific time period due to a pre-existing condition (if there are medical records showing that the person had cancer before applying and the cause of death was cancer), the claim can be denied. This time period varies greatly from company to company....anywhere from 90 days to 2 years.

These policies are typically VERY expensive though. Basically, the insurance company is taking an almost completely blind risk in insuring a person they know nothing about, so they cover their butts against a big loss.

You're best bet, if you are asking becuase you or someone you know is actually looking for insurance under these circumstances, would be to contact a lisensed insurance broker. THey can assess your situation and take it to the market to find the best option to suit this need.

Recovering cancer patients can sometimes get life insurance after a period of time. Each case is different based on medical records. One can discuss with an insurance professional who can inquire with a number of insurance companies informally to find out for you.

Yes, but if they're terminal it would do no good. The plans have to be in force for 3 years until they pay face value AND, it's hard to find one for someone younger than 40.

Other than that plans start around $100/month for $25,000.

Is possible

I know I seen and heard of insurance companies not ask any health questions. Shop around, you will find something.
