lelond | Can I be added to company insurance with a bad driving record from years ago? |
I have just been hired to be a rep for a manufacturer. this lob will require 70% travel. The only hangup is i am scared that when they send over my license, i wont be able to be added because of 4 or 5 bad things on driving record including DUI, simple possession, driving under suspension, ect,ect......Curious as to how far back they will look.??? these issues have been 6-9 years ago |

The insurance company underwriters on a commercial auto policy, they'll get maybe 10 years of records way back. They'll pay extreme attention to the last five years. If you had your license reinstated five years ago, and have been absolutely clean ever since, they'll probably not kick up a fuss.
Because commercial auto policies can't surcharge drivers for accidents/tickets, they can be fussy, and can look back farther, than a personal auto policy.
So, the answer is yes, you CAN. But will you? It's going to be up to the underwriter, and will depend on the loss history for the employer, and your past five or so years driving. |

Yes, however if there are questions on you application about your driving record, and you don't answer them honestly, you may fe fired later, or if you are involved in a company accident you may be held partialy liable. |

I believe your company is mainly looking for moving violations. They check your driving record to see how high their premium would be to insure you. If it is too high, they will not hire you. Sucks, even if it was 10 years ago. I had something come up that was 7 years old. They just don't want a liability on the road. |

In most states, prior offenses come off your record after 3 years if you have no new offenses..
You can call the DMV , state Highway patrol, or a-friend-who-is-a-cop, and they can tell you what's currently on your record.... |

It depends on what the company policy is about bad driving in general. Ask the company. |
