mmd | Can I buy a Life Insurance Policy on someone I don't even know? |
Seriously.
For instance, If I took out a policy on Bob Barker, I could expect a payout in about three to five years.
Can I insure someone without their knowledge or permission?
(note: it isn't as if I would do anything to accelerate the process) |

No way, but what you are talking about doing is essentially gambling on someone's death. You might be able to get a british bookmaker to give you odds on that, so long as the person was not on death's door. |
|

KE
 |
No you can not. First of all, you would have to show insurable interest, meaning that their death would have some financial impact on you.
Second, they would have to sign the application, HIPPA form, ect. They would also have to complete and medical exam.
There would be no way you could legally take a policy out on someone you don't know. |

No, you can't. You can't buy a policy for someone else, without their signing their consent, AND agreeing to blood tests and release of medical records. |
|

Dan
 |
No. But depending on the state you may be able to take out a policy without the insured's knowledge, if you have an insurable interest.
For example, a spouse, a child, a parent with property that may be taken for medicaid purposes.
Here is a link to a good explanation of this. scroll down to scylla's post:
