barrettjt | Can I buy life insurance for my sister who has an illness? |
My sister has a liver condition that she will eventially pass away from, but not for 15 or 20 years. I want to take out a small policy because she is very poor and will have no way to pay for a funeral, is this even possible? |

Depending upon the seriousness of the illness she may be uninsurable or at the very least will pay extra because of the illness. The only way to know for sure is to visit a local independent agent that can shop the market. The are some guaranteed issue policies that she may be able to get but again the premium is higher.
If she qualifies, you can take out a policy on her if you can show insurable interest. If you will be the one paying for the funeral that is insurable interest.
My best to your sister. |

Yes, but it's going to cost a way lot of money. You ALSO need to have her consent.
If it's 15 - 20 years from now, it's most likely going to be cheaper for you to just stick money in a mayo jar under your bed - $20 a month will pay for her funeral, in 15 years. I doubt you'd find insurance that cheap, with her health issues. |

I am sorry to hear about your sister.
Yes, there are insurance companies who may be willing to offer life insurance for your sister; however, it may cost some money, perhaps more than you would be able to pay.
However, you can check online for life insurance quotes from a quote service that specializes in finding life insurance for high risk people.
Efinancial has a network of more than 70 top-rated life insurance companies they may be able to offer life insurance quotes through, for your sister.
You fill out one form and they will give you up to 12 Instant Quotes for term life insurance from top-rated insurance companies. That way you may be able to find rates that you will be able to afford from a quality insurance company.
To request your free life insurance quotes visit https://www.efinancial.com/smartquoteefc.aspx?source=389-707
I hope that helps! I wish you and your sister good health in this New year. Best of luck to you. |

Very possibly yes, although the rates may be astronomical due to the illness. You don't even have to have an insurable interest if all you are doing is paying for the policy - her estate can be the beneficiary, or she may choose anyone she want to be the beneficiary - probably whomever she believes will end up handling her affairs after she passes.
Since her liver condition may prove to be problematic in actually getting her underwritten, you may want to check out "guaranteed issue" policies. There are only about 5 questions on the application. If she passes these questions, she won't even need to have a paramed/exam performed.
Just note that a guaranteed issue policy is not cheap - in fact it's probably the most expensive policy out their - but if all else fails in trying to get a "standard" policy, that might be the route to go. Gerber Life has one and I think a few other companies offer GI policies.
Also note, that permanent life policies (i.e. not term life) are generally more liberal when it comes to underwriting - it may be easier for her to qualify for a permanent policy (whole life, universal life) than a term life.
I would suggest checking with an insurance agent who can broker - shop out numerous companies based upon one medical questionnaire. Life insurance companies that want to offer her a policy will, and those who don't wont. |

It's very unlikely that an insurance company will underwrite or insure a person that has a serious liver condition. That being said, it can't hurt to contact a professional and licensed insurance agent.
Good luck to you,

Ask for a quote from Presidential Life or Fidelity And Guarantee they are high risk companies that are "A" rated. Your premium will be higher but you probably understand that. If you would like a direct quote feel free to contact me. There are other options that may be available also. My best wishes for you and your sister. |
