Can I find out if wife has insurance on me without my knowledge?

Your wife could get an insurance policy on you without your signature, especially if she does it through her work. Benefits usually offer life insurance coverage, but you only need to fill out and sign a form if it is a large amount that you are insuring the person for. The best thing for you to do is to ask her. Not that you need to be preached to, but communication is very important.

If you share bank accounts, you can go through the checking account statements for the past year to see if she paid premium. If you can't, maybe ask her and observe her response.

You may need to consult a private investigator. It might cost a bit although they'll be able to tell you (for free) if it's possible for them to find out and how much it will cost.

I would only worry ..if she's trying to kill you..she's bound to get a statement call your insurance agent/agency

As at least one answerer has written, not all states require the proposed insured's signature if a spouse purchases the policy. It's also not unheard of for one spouse to forge the other's signature, or to have someone else pose as the proposed insured.

If medical information was given on the application, it was probably reported to the Medical Information Bureau (MIB). The MIB permits you one free yearly report from its database. Go here for more information:

http://www.mib.com/html/request_your_record.html

I hope this helps.

Perhaps..

no.

Yes, you can ask her.

If she doesn't tell you or if you suspect she's lying, try to get access to her financial accounts.

She paid for a premium somehow and there will be a check or credit card receipt to an insurer somewhere, somehow.

Once you find an unexplained payment to an insurer, call the insurer and ask if there is a policy on you and who the beneficiary is.

Believe it or not, it is actually very easy to take out a policy without the named insureds knowledge.

I've done that on both my parents with myself being the beneficiary. I have just enough to pay for burial expenses and travel costs.

But, there is no one central repository with all insurance policies and beneficiaries in it, so this won't be an easy process, but you can find out if you sleuth enough.

I'm not positive, but I believe the insured has to sign for any insurance on themselves.

Not that she couldn't have forged it.

This is simple. Go through her drawers and try to find the documents.

fake your own death and find out just make sure and document that you are faking your own death so you don't get busted for insurance fraud

mbrcatz
She doesn't. If you're not legally incapacitated, and you're an adult, then she can't insure your life without your acknowledgement signature on the application. Additionally, the insurance companies aren't going to insure you without bloodwork & medical questionaires. They have their OWN people draw the blood, so you'd probably notice that.
