Can I get medical help?
I am a 22 year old single female. I only make a little over $800 a week. I have no medical insurance. Is there anything I can do to get medical and dental help? I am an au pair for a rich family and live in the lower level. Does this mean when I am asked what my house hold income is I have to count them even though they have nothing to do with me?
Additional Details

No, you do not count them in your household. Have you tried negotiating with them as to benefits? Perhaps they would be willing to pay part of your insurance.

At $800/month, you may be able to qualify for low-income insurance. If you're in California, it's called Medi-Cal, but the federal counterpart is Medicaid. If you're in California and live in the Inland Empire, you can probably qualify for Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP, which is basically Medi-Cal).

Contact a local insurance agent, or get a job with a company that has Health Coverage. If you pay on your own, with your salary you wont be able to afford it, unless you get your employer to pay half for you, or maybe 75 percent of the premium

Go to http://www.myinsurancequotes.net and click on your state at the bottom. Then find the state programs section at the bottom of that page. It should have some resources that will help you (like state funded health programs etc)

they are not your household......................800 a month.get another position..............a woman takes care of my aunt 24/7.she gets 740 per week cash

At your age, if you are healthy, a health insurance policy might only be about $100 a month.

If you cannot qualify for a state or county health insurance plan, it would be worth $25 a week (from your $800) to pay for it. I mean, you'd have to contribute that much to a group policy anyway. Besides, if you have a place to live without rent, $800 a week is not that terrible is it?

Why not Run an online health insurance quote request. I'll bet you'll see it is not that expensive if you are reasonably healthy.

No, they aren't part of your household income. You make WAY too much for Medicaid. You might be able to find a major medical policy with a high deductible, for $100 a month, though.

But the dental, you're better off paying out of pocket. I haven't seen any private dental plans that pay out more than they take in.
