Can I go back on my parents insurance now?
I heard because of the Obama health care bill that I would be covered until the age of 26.
I'm 19 and I'm not going to school until Spring or Fall 2011.
I live with my parents and I think I am still a dependent.
My parents insurance dropped me last year after I turned 18.
Can I get back on their insurance yet or has it not been put into affect yet?
If it hasn't, when can I be covered again?

I think what this means is that you can be in their policy, but your parent(s) employer has no obligation to pay anything toward your coverage. You would still be liable for that.

When their plan renews, after this September, they can add you on again if they want to.

That portion of the bill goes into effect when the policy renews after 9/23/10. If you don't know when the policy renews it is right after open enrollment. Some insurance companies are already allowing children to stay on their parent's policy. You do not need to be in school.

However, you should also check into getting your own policy. It may be more cost effective to have your own.

Most of the new stuff goes into effect in September. Have your parents contact their HR department.

It has been in effect for awhile now. I do believe that you have to be in school to be covered, or alreast signed up for the next semester in school... also after you get out of school you are still covered to age 26.

I would ask your parents healthcare plan though, they would def know the answer.
