I am Curious if I can speak with the underwriters State Farm uses to review my Life Policy. When I submitted the info to my agent I know he said it went to the underwriters for review, just as my auto policy did. Is there a way for me to speak directly to them or does it have to go through the agent? |

You can try, but here's what you'll be up against:
1) Probably the agent, if even the agent, will know of the actual underwriter. Therefore, the agent would be the only one who could give you the contact info for the underwrite, assuming the agent actually knows who the underwriter is.
Then, I'm sure there is an internal rule preventing the agent from giving you the underwriters phone number.
The best bet would be to have the agent request the underwrite to call you.
I think it's a long shot at best, but worth a try. |

Mbrcatz had the only correct answer. You have to go throuogh your agent. I am not sure why you want to talk to the underwriter anyways. If you want info about your health you can request those records be mailed either to you or your doctor.
The agent gets very limited medical information because it is confidential. If you want the medical info you can request it be mailed to you or your doctor.
It is fine to get life insurance with State Farm because you also get a good discount on the auto insurance. Just one tip, stick to the term policies because most agents are not experts in life insurance. Then you will be fine. |

Nope. You have to talk to the underwriters, through your agent.
When I was an underwriter, the company contracts with the agent prevented me from speaking directly with the insureds. |

You normally have to communicate through your agent but if there are some confidential information (mostly health related), the underwriters would not disclose the info to agent (due to HIPAA law). In that case, you could talk to the underwriter to get specific info. Most underwriters prefer to communicate by mail.
State farm is mostly used for Car or home insurance, if you shopping for life insurance, why would you go with state farm? just because you see them everywhere? there are may insurance carriers that have good financial ratings and offer better coverages, specially in this bad economy.
