if you mean an accident that the doctor makes and hurts a patient it is called malpractice insurance
otherwise if you mean the doctor gets hurt himself it would be workers comp, disability, or life insurance
contact an agent for advice and quotes |

I have read of Lloyd's insuring these types of risks. I believe they still do, however the premiums will be substatial and they usually require some stiff restrictions on your lifestyle in order to be insured. I read of a pianist who insured his hands back in the 50's, and he wasn't allowed to participate in any sport that involved the use of the hands. Basically he could play soccer and swim only in an enclosed pool where there were no more than 5 people in the pool with him at any time, etc.
Unless this surgeon is a mdeical genius making more money than they know what to do with, it would probably be wiser to purchase a very thorough disability policy. |

Lloyd's of London is the only market I am currently aware of that would entertain such a risk. The premium would be substantial (tens or even hundreds of thousands) and there would be restrictions on his behavior. Contact a local high-end insurance agent (Chubb, Fireman's Fund or AIG provider) and ask if they have access to a Lloyd's syndicate. |

That's called Disability Insurance.
If u really want the coverage for hand only go to Loyd's.
otherwise just get a disability insurance for your proffession.
that's cheap and easy. |

Lloyd's of London insures Tina Turner's legs, why not a surgeon's hands? If you're insuring them against a potential injury or accident which could potentially end your ability to perform you job function(s), that is. Check'em out. If your weekend hobby is juggling knives, it would probably cost a small fortune. But, you can try...

If you mean insuring your hands against malpractice, I think not.
Good luck! |

Yes. There are homeowners policies to protect him from lawsuits from his personal activities and residence, auto policies to protect him from accidents related to driving his car, and medical malpractice to protect against that kind of suit, and general liabiltiy to protect against slip and fall type suits in his office. |
