It depends on what age was the life policy bought on you. Usually parents buy life insurance on their kids. If this situation applies to you, then this is perfectly legal. Though, ownership of the policy is usually transfered to the child when the child become 25 years old.
If you are 18 years old or older and someone in your family is trying to buy life insurance on you, then this action may violate your state law because you must give consent and have insurable interest for someone to buy life insurance on you. Is this family member a life insurance salesman? |

It would be hard to do since most life insurance companies require that the insured sign the life application. If someone else was going to be the owner of the policy, they would also have to sign the application. Doesn't stop someone from forging your signature but a good agent always has the applications signed in front of them. |

Well in the state of Washington you are not able to take out life insurance on an individual person over the age of 15 without written consent from them. In fact anyone over the age of 18 in most instances, unless you purchase an online scam insurance, need to have a full medical examination if the dollar amount is about 100,000. You need a lot more than just a SS# to purchase life insurance. |
