Generally no, but there are some careers which do require retirement at a certain age. Airline pilots, for example.
For most jobs or careers age discrimination is against the law, along with race, sex, national origin, etc. |

In the UK yes you can be made to retire at 65. They can't force a 60 yr old female to retire as it is discrimination (as men can work until 65), but they can force retirement at 65. |

Depends on who's making you. Your wife? Well, if you want to be a HAPPY man, you'll make her happy. Some careers have an age cap - like a commercial pilot. Personally, I'm glad there's not a 90 year old guy driving my commercial jet when I travel.
Most of the time, a company can "let you go" whenever they want. That doesn't mean you have to retire - you can find a job somewhere else if you want (unless you're a commercial jet pilot). |

The answer will vary somewhat according to your state's laws. North Carolina is an "at will" state and you can be forced to retire at any age for any reason, as long as it is not because you are a member of a protected class. If you feel you are being asked to retire because of your age, this is a legal question, that a lawyer should advise you on. |
