You should call Nationwide, Allstate, and/or State Farm. They're very generous about their renters policies, so long as you don't have felonies or a large amount of claims!

No, but they can be rejected for poor claims history, or bad credit score.
If you get rejected, ask why. If it was credit score, then you are entitled to a free copy of your credit report, so you can clean it up.

My company does not reject someone due to lack of insurance experience but if you have extremely poor credit I've seen applications be rejected. I'd go somewhere else if I were you.

I can not see a company doing this. Everyone has to begin somewhere and alot of the time it is renters insurance. Call a different company. Bet you can get some somewhere.

That doesn't sound right to me. Everyone has to start somewhere and normally that would be with a rental apartment and/or a car depending on where you live. The price may not be affordable but I have not heard of being rejected for "lack of insurance experience" for a renter. Ask if this particular company requires prior insurance experience to have a policy. If the answer is no, than you have been told some B.S. for lack of better terminology. You should always be given at least a price or a definitive reason for being declined.

Most renters policies I sell are to first time renters with no homeowners or renters insurance experience. If a company is rejecting you solely for that reason, call another company.
