Lloyds TSB seems good for the level of cover provided. You can always get cheaper, but then try and claim??!! |

There isn't any one "one size fits all" cheapest company. If you're in a high risk area like Texas, LA, or FL, you'll be with a national carrier. If you're in a low risk area, like the midwest, I LOVE LOVE LOVE little regional carriers like Erie and Merchants.
But call a few agents, see if any write for little regional carriers in your area, then get some quotes. |

Home Insurance isn't really about who's cheapest it's who's best value without comprimising on cover. If you are under-insured it can cause serious problems when you come to claim as insurers are entitled to (and do) cut the claim amount by the same percentage as you are under-insured so if your buildings is insured at £100k but you needed £150k you would be under-insured by 1/3 so the company would only need to pay out 2/3 of £100k which is £66k leaving you up the creek with no paddle. Same applies to contents cover - it's called the averaging principle.
Try Halifax or Norwich union as they both offer unlimited insurance which means you cannot be under-insured. A good place to compare prices and quality is moneyfacts.co.uk |
