Thanks, I am not looking to get ill and have treatment while away, but want to be fully covered by my travel insurance just in case! I didn't want ot cancel my holiday. My op is here in London, but it's a specialist op as it's a very rare heart disease, I should be healed by Sep but worried just in case. |

Try a company that specialises in pre-existing conditions- the only one I know of personally is ALL CLEAR.
If you have already booked your holiday before the diagnosis, then perhaps you have already bought the insurance too? If so, ring the company for advice.
Above all, if you cannot get proper insurance, DON'T GO.
I know that sounds harsh but the cost of medical treatment in the US (should you need it) is way beyond the cost of the holiday. It's really not worth the risk.

Travel medical insurance is a temporally health insurance. I can be obtain through your airlines while your are abroad.
Your credit card company...specially American Express, does have a free health insurance for traveler included on your annual fees. Check or call your credit card company... and the last but not least your own insurance in the UK...might be able to reimburse you for medical expenses in the U.S. After paying for it...

I've travel many times around the world and my American Express credit card cover me on anything while I was traveling abroad. ( Rent a car, lost luggage, etc)

You need to ask different insurance companies about what they will cover you for. Be honest and they will find something that will cover you. Maybe after the operation it will be safer for you to go as the point in the operation is to make you better so it would have cost you less than before you had the operation. |

YOU WILL NOT GET MEDICAL INSURANCE WHICH COVERS A PRE-EXISTING CONDITION!!
if it is on your records you have a heart condition your insurance WILL NOT cover it. and if you get sick there you will HAVE TO PAY FOR IT! just for a stay in hospital (no tests or consultations or anything costs at least $3,500 per DAY!)
wait until you have your operation or go somewhere else, I almost ended up with a $200,000 bill because of this! dont do it! |
