You can't, unless you're an emancipated minor. Otherwise, mom and dad are on the hook for it.
LIkely, at 16, you can't AFFORD it, either - what you're looking for, a low deductible plan, would cost you about $300 a month. |

If your parents do not have insurance, hence not covering you, or you are independent, you might qualify for Medicaid, or other state offered insurance. If you need immediate health care, look for a community health clinic. |

Until the age of 18 your parents are required by law to take care of your medical needs. You are under the age of 18 which is the legal age to sign contracts. The only way around that is to have a court hearing and have a judge rule in your favor to emancipate you. |
