Yes it will be worth something. Do you know who the company is? Can you ring them and ask.
My mum discovered that my grandad had taken out an insurance policy when she was born...it was only 2p per week....she's waiting for a cheque now for £405....not much but as my dad would say better than a kick up the backside!! |

You will have to contact the company. No one else will be able to tell you. With an older policy, it may take 2 weeks or so for them to pull it out of storage and do manual calculations. |

You need to begin by tracking down the insurance company. If it is no longer there, contact your state insurance regulatory department in your state's capitol city. They'll help find where the company is, usually it's merged, etc. Companies are always handing off their business to other companies but if it is a paid-up life policy, someone's on the hook for it. You have to do some digging around, but the insurance department should be the place to start. Be patient with the bureaucracy and you'll get the right person to speak with. |
