Hi if depends on a couple of different facts, One what type of policy is it? Whole, Life Term? in a Term life policy , the the answer is usually, 99.99% of the time NO. On a whole life policy it depends on how much you have accrued in cash value, it might be best to look at it and see if you have any loan value, and take the loan value then cancel it or just take a loan if you need to funds and then pay it back when things are better. these are only options that i am suggesting most people would say if this is your only life policy you have paid into it for years, do you want to lose all that money. Only you can answer that.

I am not sure I would be most helpful, but I am have a friend who had a life insurance policy with state farm, and is also for a subsequental amount.
well she had come into some rough times and could no longer afford to keep her life insurance and so she called in and spoke with several departments on what what be the most efficent way to going about closing her policy or freezeing until she could afford to bring up to date again.
and they had stated that she would be able to close her policy and pay a pently and receive a percentage of the money paid overall for the policy.
so she ended up paying about fortyfive hundred dollars, and receiving back after her pentaly fifteen hundred, so you can try that route if it is available for you.

If it's a whole life policy there should be some cash value, if you haven't borrowed against it previously. Check with your agent to find out the worth. Your monthly or qtrly statement should show these figures.

If it is a term policy then you don't get anything back. If it is whole or Universal life you will have a cash value.
