I recently took out car finance with Gap insurance to cover the difference in the car value and finance if i have an accident. Im paying off the car finance and am wondering if i can cancel my Gap insurance as i no longer have any financial interest in keeping the insurance. Can i cancel it at any point?
Usually if you no longer have the loan you are no longer eligible for gap insurance. Call the company and ask them what you should do. FYI - it is usually pretty cheap to get this on an auto policy. Next time check it out and see which would be better.

Yes you can cancel the insurance whenever you want to but you may have to pay a cancellation fee.
The amount of the fee will depend on how long you have had the insurance for.
Contact GAP explain that you want to cancel your insurance and they will inform you if there is a cancellation fee to be paid or not.

gap insurance is a blessing in disguise. i did not even know i had it until i wrecked my car and boy was i glad it was there. and since you recently financed your financer might require it. so you should check first befor canceling it. accidents can happen anytime anyplace i only had my car less than a year and the gap insurance saved me a bundle.

I bought a car financed and I took gap insurance, but what the salesmanager explained me is that it only works while the car is being financed, so if something happens to the car and i am still owing money the gap insurance would pay off my loan.So if you're paying off then the gap insurance is being paid off too and won't longer work.
