Can i claim compensation for being assaulted at work?

I have been left with multiple bruising, shock, trauma and deep anxiety. What is the best way to claim compensation for this?...

aggi53	first of all report the incident to management - if necessary attend the doctors for record of injuries - take photoes - Then decide was the assault the fault of the firm - was it by another member of staff - were there any witness's to the assault - get a statement from the witnesses - was it by a member of public - were you put into a situation that caused the assualt - really need more info to say yes or no - you can go to the citizen advice for info and this will be dealt with as confidential
Cher R	You can either try to sue the person who did it or maybe depending on circumstance your employer for failing to excercise duty of care over it's employee's. The bruising would have to be pretty bad to get anything through the criminal compensation as it must last for something like 6 weeks for it to count. Speak to a solicitor, many don't charge for advice if they think they will get a case out of it.

mbrcatz	Sue the person who assaulted you. Press charges, have them arrested. For workers comp, it may or may not be compensable - if it was a coworker, then the employer's workers comp likely won't pay, and their general liability most likely won't pay, either. So you're stuck suing them. Good luck on that. Hope you have the $5,000 retainer a lawyer is going to require.
