Robert S | Can i drop my heath insurance, i am involved in a divorce? |
|

Most likely, yes. It really depends on the provisions of your divorce. In some cases, you are required to keep health insurance (if it's already in effect) on your (soon to be ex) spouse and minor children.
It really depends on the provisions of the divorce, and most insurance companies won't let you make the change until the divorce is final. |

Not until the divorce decree is issued, or open enrollment rolls around. |

Sure you can, but I don't know why you'd want to, or what that has to do with getting a divorce. |

I'm guessing that you want to drop your health insurance either to save money or so your wife won't have health insurance coverage. I don't know if there are children involved that might alse be affected if you drop your health coverage. Technically, you can drop your health coverage. Morally, I suggest you consult with your attorney before you take that step. It may end up that the divorce decree will place certain responsibilities on you involving health insurance. Also, it could have a direct impact on your own financial condition if you got sick or injured. Don't make that decision based on emotions. Make it based on common sense and sound thinking. |

There is no law that says you have to carry health insurance unless it is part of a support order by the courts. |
