It depends on what state you live in. Some states allow for common law marriages if you meet certain requirements, others allow for domestic partners, and some only if you're of the same sex (weird). The decision may also be left up to the contract your employer has with Blue Cross. Ask your HR manager.
However, your biggest problem is that you must wait for open enrollment, or have a qualifying event, such as getting married. More info on qualifying events in the link below. Also, the insurance company can, and will, impose a preexisting condition exclusionary period of 12 to 18 months.
Bottom line is that insurance needs to be bought pre-need. Call a local agent. An individual (non group) plan will probably cost less than adding her to your group plan. Plus, she will own the policy, not your employer.

If your employer allows you to add domestic partners and you meet the guidelines, then yes she could be added. There may be a waiting period or you may have to wait until open enrollment to add her. So this may not be an option at this time. |

Unfortunately, most companies won't put a girlfriend in your health plan. I tried it before also and didn't go through. They have to be a family member or wife. |

Does she live at the same address as you? If so, it may be possible to add her. You'd have to check with your HR people or with the customer service reps at your health plan offices.
You may also run into a problem with this being a "preexisting condition" if she's already sick. Good luck with that. Make sure she gets to the doctor and takes care of herself, even if you have to pay something out of pocket for her care. Or check with your state and see what kind of low-cost programs they offer for people who are uninsured. |

Why not marry her. Then you would be able to add her. |

It depends on what state you live in.
In Texas, you can decide that today she has become your common law spouse and add her today. Seriously.
You need to get with HR and declare her your common law spouse and ask what your options are for your state.
However, your insurance form may also become your marriage licence. So if at some point your relationship ends, she can get a legal divorce and all that entails.
BTW, you may have issues with pre-exisiting condtions |

Most likely not. Most companies require you to be married, to include an opposite sex partner on your health insurance.
Why don't you just marry her? Most states, you can get the license, wait three days, and get hitched pretty quickly after, and THEN you can add her to your work policy. |
