If the policy has a cash surrender value, you can get that back. It will be counted as income and you will have to pay income taxes on it. |

No, you will not get the money back. The money you paid into it kept the policy active. Whether or not you use it has no bearing on it. |

No. monies earned by the insurance company are theirs to keep. If you would have died, they would have paid the claim. Shop around for 20 year level term and buy a new policy, provided you are in good health you should be able to find a broker to shop around for you and get you a decent rate. Remember when you find a new insurance policy, wait until it is in effect until you cancel your first policy. You do not want to be without insurance for any period of time. |
