Brandy R | Can i switch the name of the car insurance to my name at 17? |
i am 17 and was wondering if the current name of my insurance can be swithched to my name?
and can the title of my car be switched to my name as well? Additional Details money is not an issue.
is the changeing the owner of the car and makeing the insurence under my name possible at the age of 17? |

You don't have to be 18 to have a car titled in your name, and you don't have to be 18 to have a policy in your name, either.
But you can't "switch". You have to start a new policy, and the prior owner of the car has to sign the title over to you, and you have to buy a new title and tags. |

No, because at 17, you cannot legally sign a contract.
The person who owns the car now would have to sign it over to you...but if there is a loan on it, that will not be possible. |

You can't own a car until you are 18. Moreover, keep the car and insurance in your parents name. You'll save big money. |

Short answer, yes.
Short answer assumes you are a licensed driver and your name is on the lien/title of the vehicle.
Typically, this would be a bad idea for you as insurance rates are based on driving record, age and credit history.
Being 17, your age hurts you, driving record is hopefully clean, but you most likely have little credit and the little that you do have is probably not pristine.
Hope this helps. |

Yes, it can be... However, if you're currently on your parent's auto insurance policy, I would recommend staying there. You're likely to pay quite a lot more if the policy is under your name. |

As long as you are purchasing the insurance and driving the car I don't see any problem with either request. |
