Can just anyone take out life insurance on anyone else without telling that person.?
Can they make them self the beneficiary and claim the money when the person dies.
Additional Details
Ok, first of all, I'm not planning any insurance scam. A lady friend of mine raised this question.

Now, as far as the insured's signature. Well if nobody knows about it being forged and the person dies, most likely no one will question it's validity. I have heard that you can insure a person for small amounts without them having to take a physical, blood tests or anything like that. The settlements are usually kept confidential too. As far as the beneficiary's claim to a loss, couldn't they simply say that the person was a potential suitor or fiance.

To insure someone else's life, you must have an "insurable interest" in that person. In other words, their death must affect you financially, such as a spouse, child, or a business partner.

Obviously, you can insure a child without telling them. I have heard of spouses getting policies without the others' knowledge, but this probably varies from state to state, and company policy. If you insure someone you're not related to, you can probably count on them checking up on it.

It's entirely possible that some one (especially in the case of a spouse) could forge the signature on the policy. If that person died of natural causes, no one would know to question it.

We've had several policies in our family. All that's ever been required is a signature. Some ask you a few questions like, "Do you smoke?" But I've never had to take medical tests or turn over records.

Doing the Right Thing
Of course not. That's like me going into a retirement home and buying life insurance on everyone because they all going to die sooner or later. I put myself as the named beneficiary and I get all the death claims when they die. Most old people would sign the application anyway because I would be paying for it and they probably won't even read it. What I just did is totally illegal. Its inhumane and not right because I'm using people's deaths as a profitable business.

So you can't just buy life insurance on anyone. You (the policy owner) must have insurable interest on the person being insured. Usually, only family members falls into this category. Second, the person being insured must sign the application.

No, you can not take out insurance on someone else without them knowing about it. If you are the owner they will either have to sign the application or a supplementary form that they know you are purchasing life insurance. At the time of the application you have to have an insurable interest in that person.

Planning to report an 'accident'?

Nope, you need the written permission of the other person, AND they need to submit to blood/urine/saliva tests before the policy is issued, AND they need to release their medical records.

The person taking life insurance out on another has to have more to gain by the person being alive than dead. Companies sometimes take life insurance policies out on key employees because the loss of the employee could mean the end of their business, or a serious decline in profitability.

whaddaya up to???? QQ

Yeah. I lot of jobs do this to their employees.

Most insurance companies want you to be a relative.
