Actually, it didn't have anything to do with me. My husband's employer made a mistake and had a bunch of problems with the insurance company. I think they added us to the insurance when they weren't supossed to. |

I'm pretty sure insurance is valid until you are actually notified of the cancellation. Still, I'd not pay the disputed amount. Even if they are in the right, it'd cost too much in legal fees to be worth coming after you. |

For instance, why was your insurance cancelled in the first place? Was it a group policy, or an individual one? In what state do you reside (and is that a different state from where the plan is based?)
All of these could impact the answer. |

In theory, you are. It's your responsibility as a patient to provide valid insurance info at the time of service. However, that said, how were you not aware that your insurance was going to cancel? Usually you have an idea - unless your employer screwed up or changed plans.
You're probably going to get stuck with the bills... Sorry. |

Depends on WHY you were cancelled. If you didn't pay the bill, or your employment terminated, you should have expected it.
In any case, unless the cancellation is illegal, they aren't responsible for any services provided after the cancellation date. You can check with your state insurance department if you think the cancellation is illegal, and they can advise you, and make the company reinstate if necessary. |
