Can parents recieve insurance money of any kind if they find their child is psychotic in any way?
Band: Suicidal Tendencies.
Song: Institutionalized.
Last words in song: "It doesn't matter, the insurance policy's about to run out anyway".

I'm having issues with my mom- in fact I always have with her trying to say I'm crazy. (I'm not, honest) :P But no kidding, she's a complete moron and I'm not a bit apologetic about saying it after all she puts me through. She totally despises me. Thanks for reading.

"They" would be the metal institution that she's called and somehow successfully gotten me to go to albeit temporarily and very briefly multiple times (they sent me home after evaluation because again, I'm not insane). And to think I actually played along with her stupid scheme when I was younger to attempt to get a check (never happened). She's absolutely mad!

Wow, I don't know the answer to your question, however I would say no, your parents cannot receive any insurance money if you are "psychotic". However it sounds like your mom has some serious mental illness and you are having a very hard time coping with her mental abuse. I agree with you that just because you are a mom, it does not mean you are wonderful. I think it sounds like you need to get some counseling and move on with your life without your mom. Sorry to hear of your situation.

Please see correction, you are correct!!

Nope, you're mom can't collect anything for you being psychotic.

And years from now, you'll understand all she's been going through - whether there's something really wrong, or you're just being a rotten kid to her. You're going to owe her a big apology for your behavior, and inconsideration.

I don't know what kind of insurance policy you'd need to get a pay out on a psychotic child, but I would think she could get some sort of state aid, kind of like disability, if you were psychotic to the point of her not being able to hold a job because you needed full time care. Closer to welfare, I think.
Whatever the situation is at home for you, you'll only need to tough it out until you're 18, if you live in the U.S., then you can split. Reading that made me feel sad. You are the future for us all, and you need to be looked after better.

""Last words in song: "It doesn't matter, the insurance policy's about to run out anyway""

What that means is, most private insurance plans have a lifetime maximum of benefits they pay. It's often the million-dollar range for a person's entire lifespan. Most healthy people never come close to hitting their lifetime max, but the song refers to if someone has medical needs that require constant care - like someone who is permanently disabled or in a mental institution permanently - they reached their lifetime maximum. (One you hit lifetime max, you have to pay.)

But as far as her getting a check for you being wacko? Nope. Not gonna happen.

Gosh, do we have the same mother?

Sis, you did not mention what kind of insurance. Health? Disability? Life?

You mention '...if THEY find...." Who is 'they'? If you mean the parents, then the answer is almost certainly 'No'.
If you mean the insurance company's doctor(s), then the answer is 'Perhaps'.

If it is a life policy, then the owner of the policy may withdraw accumulated dividends and cash values, should there be any of either.

If it is a disability policy, the answer is "Almost certainly".

If the policy is for the life of the child, and more than the two or three year period of incontestability has expired, then "Yes...but upon the demise of the insured."
