I currently have Liberty Mutual, but work with someone who lost all in a fire, and they treated them very badly and were very rude and argued every point of coverage, and then dropped her. Want to change to company with good reputation. |

State Farm
There was a time when State Farm wasn't writing Homeowners policies and I had to go elsewhere temporarily....wow - I had a housefire and my claims process was horrible! 3 years later, the electrician and the pool repairman haven't even been paid for what they did!!!
All the claims I've seen go thru my office & all other offices I've worked with were so much simpler! |

I would say, if you qualify (you need to have a larger home), Chubb is by far the best company for claims paying. They look for reasons to pay claims instead of deny. Also, if you have a total loss & choose NOT to rebuild (sell the land & walk away), they will send a check for the policy limits, they won't try to figure actual cash value vs. replacement value.
Our office has been having terrible trouble with Liberty Mutual claims. They are asking US coverage questions, which they shouldn't be doing. I also had trouble with them about 15 yrs ago trying to help my insureds settle claims with them. They denied claims that were clearly their insureds' faults. |

Well, I was going to recommend Liberty. I have them for my Homeowners, Auto and Umbrella. I have never had any problem with them. Oh well. |

Yep, LM has the lowest prices in just about every state - and the most complaints.
Well, not all companies write in all states. So you're going to have to post where you are. If you have Erie Ins in your state, or if you qualify for USAA, I'd heavily recommend both of them. I also really like Travelers. My personal homeowners is with State Farm. It was the most expensive, when I shopped it out - but has the most broad coverage, which is what really matters to me. |
