Can we recover the paid amount (premiums) even after the policy get lapse.?
I just wanted to know that can we recover the amount(not total policy amount but the amount what we have paid as premiums) even after the policy get lapse. My father got a LIC policy but it was lapsed due to non payment of the premiums. He paid some amount in the initial stage and discontinued. My question is can we gat the amount back what he has paid. The period for which policy has taken is finished. Can somebody suggest me where can I get the info regarding this. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

first are you aware for how long exactly did you dad paid the premium. If its a year or more then you will bond to get some amount refunded. But if the premium is less then one year. For that you need to have good contact with the LIC agent or the residing officer. But for these things you need to spend some more time.

(This answer assumes the policy was issued in the U.S.)

Your father may be able to receive a partial refund, but not a total refund. If he's been paying for the policy long enough, it will accumulate what is known as "cash value." If there is a cash value built up, your father can request what is known as a "cash surrender." But again, he will not receive ALL of the premiums back.

Have your father review the policy to see if there's a "table of cash values" included. It will tell him roughly how much cash value has accumulated.

There is an exception -- term policies typically do not build cash value. Also, if he paid into the policy for a short time, there will be no cash value.

If your father has paid premiums for at least three years then only some percentage of the premiums paid + bonuses accrued thereon for three years, you will get. If the premiums are paid less than 3 years, then no return.

He didn't pay the premiums, it lapsed, and the original term has ended, but you want your money back???

Yes you can. If you have paid atleast 3 premiums you can either get the amount at maturity or you can get surrender value by surrendering the policy. You can details from the local LIC office.
Since the period is finished, definitely you can get the amount.

The same thing happened to my mother...we weren't able to get the remaining claim paid or could she reclaim the amount paid...then they canceled her policy.....at this point I was soo upset for her and trying to help, b/c she's quite sick....Perhaps...this can help or assist...I feel what your going thru and I want you to know there are options out there. IT's def hard! But I may have a solution for you....
I found a company that offers a discount card for medical, dental and vision. It is totally cool! It's not expensive at all...very reasonable less then 70 per month and you get a deep discount on like doc visits etc...It's not an insurance plan, but a discount program like a grocey store scan card...aarp offers coming similar to the senior citzen crowd...but I don't know what age group your Dad is in... LET me know if your interested....I was so pleased with what was avail, I have actually started working for the company...I thought it was so great!....email me....j.rehm@jillrehm.com if your interested...I have been in your shoes!!! I def. feel for ya! GOOD LUCK hope to hear from you! - JILL

I suggest you should contact the legal department of LIC. The Law officer shall examine your case and shall let you know what can be done ?

if your father have been paid atleast 3years continuously.than u can bag your money from the company.and company will give u surreneder value of ur premium.it will be near about 1/3 of ur premium.

ACE
Dude ,
It depends on the term UR dad has paid the premiums , as per ur question its seems a very old one in this case atleast 3 to 4 yrs premiums have to be paid ,
exclude the first yr premuim then the remaining premuim u might get abt 35 to 40 % for the 3 premuims assumed its paid for 4 yrs .
100 X 4 = 400
400-100= 300
300@ 40% = 120
net 120 or bit more ( bonus etc etc... )
Hope U got the pitcure
