Dark killer | Can you afford Health insurance? |
How much do Americans have to pay in health insurance cost per month and what is covered? What happens if you don't have any insurance and your illness is not a emergency treatment, Are you left to suffer because you can't afford treatment? What happens if you have a long lasting illness, can you get insurance?
Thank god I was burn in England and don't have to worry about getting ill as all treatment is free no matter what is wrong with you. America is the rishist nation on earth and it can't evern treat it sick with good health care. |

We pay a lot for our health insurance either as individuals or by our employers by proxy. Insurance for a family of 4 runs me about $12,000.00 per year. Part is paid by my company and part by me. In fact, most big companies would cut the personal cost of that by 75% or more.
We have the best healthcare in the world, bar none. I would not want to get sick in another country. Why you ask ? Our doctors are being paid a fortune, and because of that, we attract the best foreign doctors and we keep our homegrown ones. We have the best diagnostic equipment..etc..etc..etc
Be aware that the problem with American health care is not the health care, but the cost. And, people that cannot afford healthcare still get healthcare anyway. Hospitals cannot turn away sick people by law.
Thank God I was born in the US |

no i cannot afford health insurance. i own my own small business. the cost for coverage is too high and the deductibles are outrageous! i avoid going to the doctor because i will have to pay full cost for the visit. if you have a preexisting condition then the insurance companies will not cover it. our health care system is run very purely. |

I'm English and the system over here sucks. We buy our own health insurance as we have our own business. My son and husband have Anthem and I have a different company because Anthem will not insure me as I had kidney surgery when 7 months pregnant and also had a slipped disc. My current insurance company will not cover any problems related to either kidney or anything related to my back. It's crazy, you pay huge premiums but they won't cover the things that you have the problems with so I always have to pay for anything to do with my back. My toddler has asthma and so Anthem have just doubled his premiums so we pay around $500 per month for insurance and that's without doctor's visits ($25 each) and prescriptions (Vytorin $100, Xopenex $125, Zyrtec $40, Singular $40, Pulmacort $30)
The NHS has it's problems but at least care is available to everyone regardless of age and social status and you can actually afford to get your prescriptions. |

man oh man
the cost of living is so much and yet not as much as it is to get sick or die.
i think it's about 200 to 500 just to get good health ins.
it hurts the pocket book deep down inside. |

I agree with you. I'm an American who lives in Asia, where I've been satisfied with the national health care systems I belong to in Korea and Japan.
Living in America with its costly insurance programs ridiculously tied to one's job is crazy. If more Americans knew how bad they have it compared to other countries, they'd rise up. Yet they buy the propaganda that the status quo is good for them. |

Health Insurance can cost - for one person, depending on the type of plan (and there's many) anywhere from $200 to $700 a month. (The more you pay, in theory, the more coverage you have.)
If you don't have insurance, you pay for your treatment. The leading cause of bankruptcy filings are medical bills. If you have a long-lasting illness, unless you had insurance when you were diagnosed and are just switching plans, it's VERY difficult and VERY expensive to get insurance. |

I am from America. Health insurance is extremely expensive. I am overweight and have a few other medical conditions, and insurance companies charge astronomical amounts if you have any high risk factors.
I pay around $500 per month in health insurance just for me alone. It is absolutely ridiculous. I could rent a small apartment for $500 a month!
We desperately need to fix our health care system here in the U.S. But I don't know what needs to be done- if we need to have laws passed capping the costs of health care, or ?
I agree with you. America probably is the richest country, and yet, many innocent people suffer. I am glad to live here, don't get me wrong. But even though we may technically be the wealthiest nation in the world, we still have lots and lots of problems to contend with!
My case is probably typical. But, there are some people who can get health insurance for cheaper- as little as $100 per month. $100 per month is affordable.
As I said before, something needs to be done, but I don't know what the solution is.
I had a LOT of trouble and heartache trying to get health insurance coverage. So many people who have grave illnesses may have a terrible time trying to find a carrier who will insure them.
Insurance companies operate like any other business. I am a "high risk" individual. The insurance companies do not want to insure anyone who will cost them money. Therefore, many people who actually need the insurance most of all get turned away.
It's really screwed up. If you are healthy (and don't even really NEED insurance), you will be guaranteed acceptance. Yet if you are sick, obese, terminally ill, have a disease, or any number of pre-existing medical conditions, the insurance companies have the legal right to refuse coverage to you. Someone needs to help the individuals, because the big corporations and companies have all the money and the power.
Sometimes I wish that America were like Canada and England, in that we could have free health care. In many ways, that would be better, especially for those people who are ill, or unemployed, or cannot afford expensive health insurance premiums. |

There are very affordable health benefits out there - it is just that we are mostly all pre-programmed if you will to think of just your "Traditional" insurance. Here is a site that has Medical Benefits, along with dental, vision, prescription and chiropractic for only $49.95mo for an individual and $59.95mo for an entire household (up to 20 people) they also do groups large or small.
My family has saved so much money with these benefits - it is just that most people do not know about this. This company has been around for 15 years it is not a fly by night company http://www.helpyousavenow.com
I hope this helps with this nightmare that 70% of Americans are living!

America was founded on an "ownership society" basis - Because of this ownership mentality - socialized medicine will not be a viable option - at least for 20 years.
And yes, I can afford health insurance - i work hard to do it, but I can pay for it for myself, my wife and my employees!
I dont need a govnt hand out! |

Well, wait a few years, and see how well your socialistic system is doing.
I saw an article last month where the UK is compiling a list of the procedures it isn't going to 'cover' any more under their system, as it can't afford to maintain existing coverage.
MOST Americans have health insurance. The people you read about here who DON'T have health insurance, well, more than half of them are here illegally. They wouldn't be covered in YOUR country, either, if they were there illegally, and actually, they wouldn't even be TREATED. At least we, here, in the US, provide TREATMENT, even to illegals! You guys only cover EU nationals.
We treat our sick . . .even the sick who are sick of their own making. And we treat OTHER country's sick people, free of charge. OR rather, not free, but *I*, a working US taxpayer, pay for it. Which is more than you can say. |
