Home insurance covers lots of different things. I'm not familiar with all the details of my home policy, but my homeowners insurance agent is always helpful. Try calling your agent or a homeowners agent in your city. http://www.easyhomeinsuranceguide.com They will be able to help you. |

Insurance covers sudden damage caused by accident or criminal action. It doesn't cover wear and tear. |

A few years ago I started our car on the drive not realising it was in gear, and it leapt forward into the garage door. We were able to claim on the house insurance for hat as it was accidental damage. But if you're saying that you want to claim for new ones because the old doors are a "bit damaged and old" then you'll be turned down. Just think, we'd be able to claim every time one of our possessions was a bit past its best if that was the case! |

Here's another way to think about it - insurance is not a maintenance policy.
For example, if the engine fails on your car, you can not get a new engine via insurance. However, if someone steals your engine, or puts sugar in your gas tank, you can get a new engine (assuming you are correctly covered).
The situation is similar with homeowners insurance. Depending on your policy and the insurance company, you may be able to get a new door if something was sudden and accidental (like driving a car into it, maybe having the lawnmower throw a rock into it), but if it is just wear and tear, you are probably out of luck. |

Most insurance co. Will let you file a claim but they will have limits on the amount. Give them a call and try to place a claim . I would just keep to the point is is damaged by the car, mower 4 wheeler etc. |
