You can make your estate the beneficiary. You will be dead.

People have made their estate or a charity the beneficiary a lot of times. The biggest problem with that is that the recipients of the estate may have to pay taxes on the proceeds. If they were the beneficiary there would be no tax.

mama_sayed
No. If you do not designate someone else as beneficiary, it automatically goes to your estate. If you don't have a will, the court will appoint an executor who will distribute the money that is left after paying for your funeral expenses, your taxes, and your final bills. That is, if there is any money left.

No. You'll be dead if it has to pay out.

You could purchase a life insurance policy on someone else (a spouse, for example) and make yourself the owner and beneficiary, and you would get the pay out if that person died. Is that what you mean?

If you meant that you are going to be the one whose life is insured, you have to die for there to be a pay out. So you can't be the beneficiary. You either name a beneficiary, or perhaps your estate could be named, but ultimately your estate gets divided up among your heirs anyway (hopefully).

You CAN get a whole-life policy which builds cash value. While you're alive, you can borrow from that cash value that has built up, or you can get the cash value back if you cancel the policy. Note that I said the cash value, not face value.

As an example, I've had a $50,000 whole life policy for about 5 years and I pay about $350 a year for it (the premiums are a lot more expensive than term life, which doesn't build cash value and coverage expires after a set number of years). I think the cash value if I canceled it right now would be about $1200. So obviously I wouldn't get back ALL the money I had paid into it.

Well, you can make your estate the beneficiary. It happens all the time. So after you're dead, the money goes to pay any of your bills, then anything left over gets distributed to your heirs according to your will, or state law.

Where do you want the "Claim check" to be delivered.
All you need to do is to endorsed the check and collect your money!

Make your church the beneficiary and they will change it to proper currency you can spend up there!
