Can you get health insurance if your slef-employed?
I've never applied, but I'm told its hard to get a policy if your self-employed...

Unicare, in our state--Illinois, allows a group plan with as few as two people. Also perhaps check out your trade or professional journals.

Misty L
Absolutely! My parents were self-employed for years and always had Health insurance. It did seem a bit high in cost, but it was better than not having it to them. Things happen so fast and if you're not ready!

Anyone can get health insurance if they are willing to pay the price. Alot of companies offer insurance for the self employed.
Here's a place for example: http://usainsurancequotes.org
They give you up to five free quotes on any insurance you are looking for. It's always best to shop around and compare prices.

Not hard to obtain to get Insurance if your healthy. I would highly suggest that you obtain a Health Savings Account, especially if you are self employed. Try www.HSAInside.com

Ya go to local insurance offices or on the web and ask, well I guess that;s what your doing here, doh. I've know people who get it at local insurance companies it's just usually your employer pays half and you pay half. Since you are your own employer you gotta split the cost with the boss.

good luck~

If you have a tax-identification or employer identification number to show you're a business, you can get insurance. Reason being - insurers would rather sell to a business than to a person because they have a smaller chance of getting screwed on unpaid premiums for someone who is in business.

You can get it. Most colleges have a group health insurance plan for their alumni. It will be cheaper for you.

a couple of other insurance companies to look at would be:

Assurant Health
N.A.S.E (national association for the Self Employed)

We offer over a dozen plans. It also depends on what are the health condition(s) of the self employed (could be husband and wife etc. as well to count for 2).

most companies require min. of 2 in a group and will guarantee to issue the policy but ...but ($$$) please contact these websites and test the market first. You will see many free information about the health and other insurance needs. It is free and please go to these sites for harder to get coverages like yours:
