Can you go back to work in your field after you have collected on a work disability.?

Additional Details
What if you have collected a lump sum allready in a settlement? You are no longer collecting. Can you then just resume your career as if nothing ever happened?

You can, but then why did you collect a lump sum settlement?? That is usually given to someone specifically if they cannot return to their date of injury job. Sounds kinda fraudulent.

As an add on, a future employer CANNOT ask you if you have ever filed a previous work comp claim. That goes against the ADA laws and cannot be asked. You may be given a job description and asked if you can perform the job tasks, that is where you need to say yes or no.

try to contact your nearest insurance agent or company. they can offer you good suggestions. this is exactly i used to do in need with ( http://www.rghins.com/ ) in need.

Yes, as long as you are not still collecting benefits.

It really depends on what you settled for. Some states and companies allow you to settle your claim entirely including you surrendering your job with the company you worked for. But if you settled the claim and your attorney didn't mention anything about working for your company than you can work for your company or whoever you want to work for. Heck you can work at McDonald's for all I care.

If you plan on working for another employer they will ask you if you have had any work comp claims before, be truthful, because if you don't and you hurt yourself again it can get messy when the insurance companies argue who has what.

You receive a lump sum, work for whoever you want. If you have work restrictions let your new employer or current employer know, so they can work with you on this.

I don't see why you can't work where ever you want, it's your choice. If your not sure what the settlement was about than call your attorney, if they want to speak with you.

Yes, but then you can't collect disability any more.
