Can you regularily add family members to an insurance plan who don't live with you?
I would like to get health insurance for my parents who cannot afford it, and am wondering if it is possible to just add them to my plan since they do not live with me (or even live in the same state for that matter). If they would have to directly live with me to be added, would it be a big deal for me to just say that they did live with me even though they really didn't?

It doesn't matter whether your parents live with you or not.

99.99999999% of health insurance policies will not allow you to add a parent as a dependent. Doesn't matter if they live with you, doesn't matter if you completely support them financially...for the vast majority of health insurance policies, a parent would not meet the criteria for an "eligible dependent."

If by some chance you have one of the incredibly rare situations where you could add your parent to your policy (again...this is so incredibly rare its almost not even worth mentioning here), you'd likely have to show proof of their financial dependency. Such as tax returns or other financial documents.

If you want to purchase health insurance for your parents, you'll have to get quotes from agents and/or insurers in their area, and have the bills for the premiums sent to you.

Consult your Insurance company first and ask about this. some company do not pay out once the incident happen to someone in the Country where he/she was not registered.

don't lie, you may waste your money at the end!!! but to some Insurance companies, its possible>

They have to be your dependents (for tax purposes) in order to qualify for your group plan through your job.

Usually, the only way to do this for someone who doesn't live with you is if they are your child and you pay child support (if you pay child support, then you get to claim the child on taxes).

It is a matter of dependancy usually. If they are your dependents, your insurance MIGHT accept that. Ultimately, though, it depends on your insurance company. You should give them a call, rather than wasting time here. Good luck!

You will not be able to add your parents to your policy. Even if you could there may be a different doctor network, or no network at all, in their state so they'd have to come visit you everytime they need medical services. Each state has it's own laws and regulations concerning health insurance.

They will need to find a policy available in their state. They should visit a local agent that works with all the major companies. The agent can find the best plan for their situation. There is no extra charge using an agent. If you want to pay the premium that can usually be arranged.

No. You can only add resident relatives who are your dependents. Parents don't count on any plan I've ever seen.

No you cannot just 'add' members to your insurance. There has to be a 'life' change such as a marriage, divorce, birth, death, adoption, or a window opening in order to change coverage or members it is covering. Plus most insurance policies will not allow you to cover 'parents'. In fact, I have never heard of any policies ever covering parents as dependents.
